Focus

You’ve got orders to fill, shipments to make, and clients to keep happy. Why spend your time and precious production resources worrying over your IT infrastructure? With the right managed service provider, you can rest easy that all your daily IT tasks are covered—so you can focus on getting the job done. At Sirap, we understand the unique demands of managing IT in a manufacturing environment, whether it’s maintaining your IOT or ensuring that your ERP system is being properly patched and updated. Let us help you keep your shop humming and create an IT infrastructure plan you can grow on.

Matching the infrastructure to the workload

We deploy Eaton power protection, Synology storage and backup, Supermicro compute and DataCore software-defined storage so core systems stay up, records stay safe and recoverable, and resilience is something you can demonstrate. Here is how the common finance jobs map to equipment.

Zero-break power for the core systems

A core banking, payments or trading system cannot tolerate the momentary drop a standby UPS allows, because a half-second gap can corrupt a transaction mid-write. The Eaton 9PX and 9SX Gen2 are double-conversion online UPS units that rebuild the power continuously, so servers and storage run on clean, uninterrupted power through surges, sags and dirty mains, with no transfer gap when an outage hits. We size them to your rack load and runtime target rather than guessing.

Power continuity at data-centre scale

Where you run a full server room or a hosted cage, power protection becomes a managed system that has to be right and stay right. The Eaton 93PS protects larger loads with high efficiency and scalable capacity, and we back it with planned battery service so the runtime you specified on day one is still there in year four, when an ageing battery string is the failure nobody saw coming. Power protection only works if someone maintains it.

Resilient power for branches, offices and the comms room

Not every load sits in a data centre. Branch counters, dealing desks, the comms cabinet and the network gear that connects them all need clean, protected power too, or a brief outage takes the whole office offline. The Eaton 5PX Gen2, 5P Gen2 and 5SC cover rack and tower loads in offices and edge sites, with network management so IT can see and shut them down cleanly. We match the model to the load rather than fitting one size everywhere.

Fast, resilient storage for core data

Client records, transaction data and the documents behind them have to be quick under concurrent load and easy to grow as the book grows. Synology RackStation rackmount NAS, with higher-end options such as the RS4021xs, give you high-capacity shared storage with redundant power, snapshots and straightforward expansion, managed through one interface your team can actually operate. It scales from a growing firm to a large estate without forcing a rebuild every time you add capacity.

High availability with no single point of failure

For data your business cannot run without, a single storage controller is a single point of failure waiting to take operations down with it. The Synology SA3400D and SA3200D dual-controller RackStations run two active controllers, so if one fails the other carries the load without an outage. It is the storage tier for the systems where downtime turns straight into a service interruption you have to report.

All-NVMe performance for transactional databases and analytics

Transactional databases, real-time fraud scoring and reporting workloads are limited by storage latency long before they run out of capacity, and spinning disks become the bottleneck under heavy concurrent reads and writes. The Synology PAS7700 all-NVMe array delivers the high throughput and low latency those workloads need, so the database keeps up with peak load instead of queuing behind the disk. We match it to the workloads that genuinely benefit, rather than putting everything on flash for the sake of it.

Compute for core systems, databases and virtualisation

The core applications, database engines and virtualisation layer need server-grade compute that holds up under sustained load and has a clear upgrade path. Supermicro X13 1U and 2U rackmount servers provide high core counts, large memory and fast networking in a dense, efficient footprint, configured to your hypervisor or bare-metal stack. We build them to your specification so you are not paying for capacity you do not use, or capped the day you grow.

GPU compute for fraud detection, AML and risk modelling

Real-time transaction screening, anti-money-laundering analytics, credit and market-risk models and document automation increasingly run on GPUs, and they need hardware built for accelerated compute rather than a general server with a card bolted in. The Supermicro X14 5U NVIDIA GPU server and the X13 universal GPU SuperServer are designed for the power, cooling and density those workloads demand. We scope the right configuration for the models you actually run, and can advise on the wider AI enablement picture.

Long-term, tamper-proof retention for compliance records

Financial records have to be kept for years and held in a form that cannot be quietly altered, and disk is an expensive and reachable place to park data you rarely touch. LTO tape, written once and held offline, gives you low-cost, air-gapped, long-term retention that sits outside the reach of an online attack. We supply actiData LTO libraries and autoloaders and Overland-Tandberg NEOs libraries, sized to your retention schedule, as part of the wider data-protection design.

Immutable, air-gapped backup against ransomware

For a licensed operator, an attack that encrypts both production and backup is an existential event, which is why the backup has to be one a ransomware strain cannot reach. The Synology ActiveProtect DP7200 backup appliance gives you immutable, deduplicated backups with air-gap and offsite options, so even if production is compromised there is a clean copy to restore from. We design the retention and recovery so a bad day is a restore, not a closure.

Compliant email archiving

Email is a record like any other, and a regulator or an auditor expects you to be able to find and produce it, complete and unaltered, years later. MailStore captures every message into a tamper-evident archive that is fast to search and independent of the mailbox it came from, so retention and e-discovery are handled by design rather than by hoping nothing was deleted. We set it up alongside your storage and backup so the archive is itself protected.

Network security and segmentation

An operator is a high-value target, and player data and payment flows have to be protected and segmented from the rest of the network. SonicWall firewalls and secure networking give you the perimeter control, segmentation and threat protection the environment needs, tied into the wider cyber-protection stack. We treat this as part of the infrastructure, not an afterthought bolted on later.

Continuous availability across two sites

An operational-resilience plan expects you to keep running, or recover quickly, when a whole site is lost, and that means storage that spans more than one room. DataCore software-defined storage mirrors data synchronously between sites and abstracts it from the underlying hardware, so a failure on one side does not stop the service on the other. We design it as part of a tested recovery plan, not as a backup nobody has ever restored.

Power, Storage and Servers for Malta's Finance Sector

Malta is home to a dense cluster of licensed financial institutions, payment and e-money firms, fund administrators, insurers and professional-services practices, and they share a hard requirement: the systems that hold client money, transactions and records have to stay up, stay protected and stay recoverable, with an evidence trail to prove it. That is the layer Sirap supplies. We are not your core-banking vendor and we do not run your ledgers. We provide and support the infrastructure underneath them: the Eaton uninterruptible power that keeps systems running when the mains does not, the Synology storage and backup that holds and protects the data, the Supermicro servers that carry the compute load, and DataCore software-defined storage for continuous availability across sites. We specify it to your real workload, install and configure it, and support it from a team based here in Malta.

The demands of a regulated financial firm are specific. Continuity is not a nice-to-have, because an MFSA-licensed entity is expected to keep operating and recovering through disruption, and EU rules on digital operational resilience put ICT risk, backup and recovery squarely on the board’s desk. Records have to be retained for years and produced on request, so storage, archiving and immutable backup matter as much as raw capacity. Fraud screening, anti-money-laundering checks and risk modelling increasingly lean on accelerated compute. And because your people are running a regulated business rather than a server room, the whole estate has to be straightforward to operate and quick to get support for. This hub maps those jobs to the equipment that solves them, so you can see where your setup fits before you talk to anyone.

Specified for resilience, not picked off a shelf

A generic quote for “a server and a NAS” is how a finance firm ends up with storage that stalls at month-end, a backup that turns out to be reachable by the same attack that hit production, and no evidence trail when a regulator asks how the data is protected. Our approach starts with your actual workload, the core systems, the databases, the record types and retention periods, the recovery targets and the resilience obligations you report against, so the recommendation is built around how you really run rather than around a catalogue.

That local, hands-on service is the difference between buying boxes and being able to show your infrastructure is sound. We specify and build the servers to your stack, configure the storage with the snapshots, replication and high availability your data warrants, size the power protection to your load and runtime, and design the backup, archiving and disaster recovery so a recovery has actually been tested. And when something needs attention, the support comes from a team based here in Malta, not a queue overseas.

What Sirap covers for a financial firm

The servers and storage are the visible part; the configuration, protection and service around them are what keep the firm running and the auditors satisfied. Across a typical engagement we handle:

  • Workload assessment, specification and capacity planning
  • Build, configuration and installation to your environment
  • Retention and recovery design aligned to your record-keeping and resilience obligations
  • Monitoring, planned maintenance and battery service
  • Malta-based service cover, SLA options and a spare pool

When a simpler setup is the right call

More hardware is not always the answer, and overselling an estate would cost you trust. A boutique advisory practice, a small fund administrator or a fintech still proving the product does not need a dual-controller array, an all-NVMe tier and a GPU server on day one; a well-specified rackmount NAS, a pair of Supermicro servers, a sound immutable backup and a clear retention plan do the job for far less, with a path to scale when the business justifies it. Equally, some workloads belong in public or private cloud rather than on hardware you own, and we will say so when that is the better fit and help you plan the cloud or hybrid side. The honest position is that the right specification is the smallest estate that genuinely meets your performance, retention and recovery targets.

Can infrastructure investment be grant-funded?

Sometimes, yes. For a Malta-based SME, investment in storage, servers, backup and the resilience around them can fall within the kind of digitalisation and business-continuity investment that Malta Enterprise schemes are designed to support, provided you apply before you commit to the purchase, which is the one rule that disqualifies most applicants. Our guide to Malta Enterprise grants walks through how the schemes work and how to keep an application valid, and we can provide the itemised quotation and technical benefit statement an application needs.

What happens when you call us?

  1. We assess the workload. We look at the core systems, the databases, the record types and retention periods, your recovery targets and the resilience obligations you report against, before we recommend anything.
  2. We specify and quote. You get a specified, itemised proposal matched to your firm and growth, written so it also supports a grant application if you intend to apply for one.
  3. We build, deploy and support. We build and configure the servers, storage, power, backup and archiving to your environment, test the recovery, and support it from Malta so the systems stay up.
