Sirap Trading Agency was set up in 1981. Sirap was then registered as a Limited Liability Company on the19th April 1985. The main business activities of the company are all related to the computer field.
We consider ourselves more as value added re-sellers and not box movers. All our customers are supported directly by Sirap, we do not engage third parties. At Sirap we strive to offer our customer top quality products which incorporate latest technology. Excellence in customer support is our philosophy and also our main goal.
Sirap provides technical support on all hardware and software issues. Many of our customers outsource their IT function from Sirap and this is regulated through our ‘System Administration and Hardware Maintenance’ Service level agreements. These contracts are specific to the customers’ needs.
All our technical staff are trained and certified by our Partners. We hold certifications from Microsoft, Eaton Power Quality (UPSs), Juniper (Firewalls), DataCore, Cisco, HP (Digital Imaging and Printing Professional), apart from other local certifications and qualifications. Our Technology Adviser and Consultant is a Bsc I.T. (Hons) graduate, read Msc IT at St.Andrews Scotland, is a Java Specialist and Oracle Instructor.
Sirap has a reputation as Tier One specialist in IT Security, High Availability and Disaster Recovery, Server Platforms, Networking, UPSs and System Administration
Unlike our competitors we do not chase the cheapest alternative on the market. We believe in a long term association with our partners (suppliers) and our team is regularly trained on the emerging technologies and they are fully knowledgeable on our product range. This also ensures that spares and support is always readily available.
Sirap was among the first IT companies to set up in Malta. Our focus at the time was the education market because of our partnership with Acorn Plc (the leading supplier to the education market in the U.K. at that time). This enabled Sirap to acquire vast experience in the highly specialised education market. A large number of local schools have continued to regard us as their main supplier for their I.T. requirements, whether for the classroom or their administrative set-up.
Sirap was the first company to install a local area network (Econet) way back in 1984. Likewise we were the first company to supply an IBM compatible PC in 1985.
Sirap is also absolute leader in the UPS market. We were the first local company to supply desktop off-line units way back in 1988. Since then we have acquired considerable experience on Power Management Systems and our staff are continually trained and certified by our partner Eaton Power Quality. Many Financial institutions, Corporations and large companies have Eaton Powerware UPSs installed and serviced by Sirap. We have installed large three phase UPSs in redundancy mode and also DC systems for Telecommunications.
In 1984 we built a relationship with Elonex, the largest PC manufacturer in the UK at that time. This helped us to acquire considerable expertise in Network Infrastructure, Servers and the PC market. We had the opportunity to join their engineers in London and get first hand experience in large company installations.
As distributors for D-Link products, our team is regularly trained on active network equipment and the design of structured cabling systems at the D-Link European HQ in the UK and Milano Italy. D-Link is a global leader in the active network equipment. Structured cable components are sourced from Intellinet and Excel. This expertise is further complemented by our certifications in ICT Security. As partners for Juniper and SonicWall, we are certified to install, configure and service Firewalls, VPN and other related set-ups.
Sirap has an established reseller network covering all Malta & Gozo. Our distribution arm has been very successful with products from our partners.
Company Organisation
Sirap employs nine full time employees who handle sales and all technical support. In addition, we employ a part-time employee to support daily administrative operations. Our retail outlet is based in San Gwann and caters for the home user and SOHO markets. The retail arm operates as a separate segment of our business and is a small part of our operations – Our core business is with corporate customers and this continues to be our strategy.
We provide a maximum 8 hours response time to all our large clients, and through maintenance and system administration agreements, this response time is often reduced to 2/4hours, particularly for mission critical applications.
Our core business products are repaired and maintained by our in-house servicing personnel (all graduates from Fellenberg and MCAST - BTEC Higher National Diploma).
We also provide off-site servicing especially on large UPS sysems and for contract customers.
All our suppliers are based in Europe and we have direct access to their technical and repair facilities.
Sirap also assembles its own PCs under the registered brand name - ProTek. Sirap is a Microsoft System Builder partner. In line with our reputation for quality products and excellence in customer service, we build our PCs from high end components sourced from reliable and leading manufacturers. Each unit is then tested for quality and reliability. We also market PCs from MSi and HP
Sirap has also developed a Maltese Keyboard which is certified by the Malta Standards Authority and CIMU (ex-Goverment agency) – this is manufactured for Sirap by Monterey
Recently Sirap became a partner of Datacore, suppliers of high availability and disaster recovery software, branded ‘Sans Symphony’. The relative certifications have been obtained and we are installing these systems at three major customer sites.
