Wax ribbons are the workhorse ribbon for thermal transfer printing: the right choice for the majority of applications that use paper labels at fast print speeds, in environments with little or no chemical or abrasion exposure. They deliver high-quality, durable barcodes economically, and Zebra’s wax/resin grades extend that durability for tougher jobs. They are the consumable that pairs with your paper labels and form part of the genuine Zebra supplies we keep in stock.

Who it is for

Maltese retail, logistics and manufacturing operations printing high volumes of paper labels, shipping labels and tags where cost-per-label and speed matter and the label does not face harsh chemicals or heavy abrasion. For synthetic labels or harsh environments, you want resin ribbons instead, and we will tell you which.

Ideal for paper materials at fast print speeds, in environments with little to no chemical or abrasion exposure. The 3200 Wax/Resin grade bridges towards resin durability for more demanding jobs. Earlier grades (1600, 2000, 6100) are superseded by these and other formulations are available on request.

Use wax (2100, 2300) for paper labels in everyday conditions and for fast, economical printing. Use wax/resin (3200) for added chemical and abrasion resistance, and full resin for synthetic labels and harsh or outdoor environments.

Which wax ribbon should I choose?
The 2300 Wax is the economical standard for everyday paper labels; the 2100 Wax is the higher-performance grade for better quality at speed; the 3200 Wax/Resin adds chemical and abrasion resistance. We match the grade to your printer, label and print speed.
