What the EM45 RFID is for

The EM45 RFID is an all-in-one enterprise mobile for frontline workers who want a familiar phone-style device that still does real enterprise work: it combines RFID reading, high-performance camera-based scanning, contactless payments and a full mobile computer in one slim, durable body. It suits inventory and asset tracking, parcel and baggage handling, medical-equipment monitoring and field work, and fits the warehouse automation and labelling and barcoding workflows Sirap builds.

Who it is for

Maltese retail, logistics, healthcare and field operations that want a sleek, phone-style device with built-in RFID and strong cameras, rather than a chunky dedicated terminal. Where you need a rugged keypad device or long-range laser scanning, the TC73/TC78 or MC9400/MC9450 are the better fit, and we will say so.

Built to perform

Integrated UHF RFID. A built-in short-range UHF RFID reader (about 1.2 m range) gives precise, rapid tag reads for inventory, asset tracking, parcels, baggage and medical equipment, with no separate device to carry.

Camera that scans and documents. A 50MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and Zebra’s decoder captures barcodes fast in any condition, plus high-resolution photos and 4K video for documentation; an 8MP front camera supports video calls.

On-device AI. A dedicated neural processing unit runs real-time translation and transcription, AI vision for shelves, products and labels, 3D measurement and generative AI assistants.

The latest wireless. 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for fast, reliable connectivity in busy networks.

Built for the frontline

Slim and durable. Zebra’s slimmest form factor yet, comfortable for long shifts, but drop-tested, tumble-tested, waterproof (IP68) and temperature-resistant.

A large, responsive display. A 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz screen with water-droplet rejection, oleophobic coating and glove support.

Secure by design. On-device fingerprint and facial recognition restrict access to authorised users.

Tailored controls. Three programmable buttons (two side, one top) give quick access to the features each worker uses most.

Easy to manage and extend

Zebra DNA. A comprehensive software suite simplifies integration, deployment, security (LifeGuard for Android, Enterprise Home Screen) and management (Zero-Touch, StageNow, Device Tracker, Wireless Fusion, Device Diagnostics) across the lifecycle.

Workstation on demand. Zebra Workstation Connect turns the EM45 into a desktop-like workstation for data-intensive tasks.

Collaboration and payments. Workcloud Communication adds push-to-talk and secure RCS messaging; NFC enables contactless payments and validation of digital tickets, passes and loyalty cards.

What is in scope from Sirap

We confirm the EM45 RFID fits your use case (it is camera-scanning and short-range RFID, not a laser or long-range device), stage the fleet with your apps and security, supply accessories and RFID media, and support locally with Zebra OneCare options. We will recommend a different device honestly if your work needs a rugged keypad or long-range scanning.

Frequently asked questions

How does it scan barcodes without a laser?
It uses the 50MP camera with Zebra’s advanced decoder, which captures barcodes quickly and accurately regardless of condition. For very high-volume or long-range laser scanning, a dedicated imager device is still the better tool.

How far does the RFID read?
The built-in short-range UHF RFID reads to about 1.2 m (4 ft), ideal for close-up inventory, asset and item-level tasks. For long-range RFID, a sled-based reader on a TC-series device is more suitable.

Can it replace several devices?
Often yes. It combines RFID reader, scanner, camera, payment terminal and mobile computer, reducing the number of devices to buy, carry and manage.
