How to choose, and what is in scope from Sirap

Picking the wrong label is expensive, either the barcode fails in the field or you over-specify and overpay. We match the label to four things: the surface, the environment (temperature, chemicals, abrasion, outdoor lifespan), the print method of your printer (direct thermal or thermal transfer), and, for thermal transfer, the correct ribbon. We then supply matched media and ribbons from local stock and keep you replenished. If you are unsure, send us a sample of the surface and the conditions and we will recommend.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ribbon?
Only for thermal transfer (TT) labels, which need a wax, wax/resin or resin ribbon matched to the material. Direct thermal (DT) labels print without a ribbon but are less durable and not for long-term or harsh use.

Which ribbon goes with which label?
Paper labels generally take wax ribbons; synthetics take wax/resin or resin depending on durability needed. The compatible-ribbon column above is the starting point, and we confirm the exact pairing for your application.

Can I just use cheaper third-party labels?
You can, but non-certified media can change formulation without notice, fail in the field and wear the printhead faster. Genuine Zebra media is pre-tested, consistent and printhead-safe, which usually costs less over the life of the printer.
