Sirap, your Malta partner for genuine Zebra supplies, with local stock and matched media advice.
What resin ribbons are for
Resin ribbons are the most durable thermal transfer ribbons: the right choice when the printed image must survive harsh chemicals, ultra-high temperatures, abrasion and tough outdoor environments. Used with Zebra’s synthetic label and tag materials, they produce dense, high-resolution images that resist smearing, moisture, abrasion, extreme temperatures and chemicals. They are the consumable that pairs with synthetic labels and form part of the genuine Zebra supplies we keep in stock.
Who it is for
Maltese manufacturing, chemical, automotive, electronics and outdoor-asset operations whose labels face aggressive chemicals, solvents, high heat (such as PCB and lead-free solder processes) or years outdoors, and healthcare and laboratory applications needing chemical-resistant marking. For everyday paper labels in mild conditions, wax ribbons are the more economical choice, and we will tell you which fits.
Why genuine Zebra ribbons
Tested with the media. Zebra’s supplies R&D tests print quality, durability and printhead life across many materials and speeds inside Zebra printers, so the ribbon and synthetic label are proven together. Resin ribbons are UL/cUL recognised with selected Zebra materials.
Consistent every order. An ISO 9001 certified process with no substitutions means the same formulation and performance each time you reorder.
Fast, low minimum. The ZipShip programme keeps ribbons on the shelf for immediate dispatch, with a minimum order of just one box.
The resin ribbon range
These are the resin grades we stock through Zebra’s ZipShip programme, each with its spec sheet. Further premium grades (6200, 5100, Image Lock) are available on request.
| Ribbon | Grade | Best for | Spec sheet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4800 Resin | Performance | High-density barcodes and high-resolution graphics on synthetics, with strong durability and chemical resistance. The performance resin for general synthetic-label work. | 4800 Resin |
| 5095 Resin | High-performance | High-density barcodes and graphics on a wide range of matte to gloss synthetics. Exceptional quality, durability and chemical resistance. UL recognised with approved labels. | 5095 Resin |
| 3200 Wax/Resin | Premium wax/resin (bridge) | Where full resin is more than needed: chemical, smear and scratch resistance on paper and synthetics. See the wax ribbons page. | 3200 Wax/Resin |
Ideal for synthetic materials and some topcoated labels and tags, in environments with harsh to extreme chemical exposure, and where applications demand resistance to ultra-high temperatures and harsh outdoor conditions. For the very harshest environments and PCB or high-temperature work, premium 5100 Resin and Image Lock are available on request.
What is in scope from Sirap
We match the resin grade to your synthetic label, printer and environment, supply it from local ZipShip stock, and keep you replenished. We will steer you to the right grade, 4800/5095 for general synthetic durability, premium 5100 for the harshest and for PCB and high-temperature work, Image Lock for extreme abrasion and solvent resistance, and recommend a wax ribbon instead where resin would be over-specified.
Often paired with
- Zebra synthetic labels and tags (polyester, polypropylene, polyimide) matched to the ribbon.
- Your Zebra industrial or desktop printer.
- Zebra rugged scanners for harsh-environment scanning.
Frequently asked questions
Resin or wax?
Use resin for synthetic labels and any harsh environment (chemicals, solvents, high heat, long outdoor life). Use wax for everyday paper labels in mild conditions, where it is more economical.
Which resin grade do I need?
4800 and 5095 cover most synthetic-label durability needs; premium 5100 is for the harshest environments and PCB/high-temperature applications with Z-Supreme media; Image Lock is for extreme abrasion and solvent resistance with 8000T Image Lock or Z-Xtreme 5000T media. We confirm the pairing for your label.
Will resin work on my paper labels?
Resin is designed for synthetics and some topcoated materials. On standard paper it is usually unnecessary and less economical than wax. Tell us the label and we will match the ribbon.
