The Eaton 9SX is the standard tier of Eaton’s online double-conversion range, for loads that need continuous, fully isolated power in a compact rack or tower. It rebuilds the power completely with no transfer gap, runs at a 0.9 power factor so it delivers more watts than lower-PF units of the same VA, and carries a graphical LCD and up to four hot-swap battery modules. It fits up to 3000VA into 2U of rack space, which makes it the natural online choice for a comms rack or a small server room.

What is the 9SX for?

It protects IT, networking, storage and telecom equipment that cannot tolerate even a brief transfer and needs clean, regenerated power. It suits the rack or small server room that has outgrown line-interactive but does not need the highest-power or highest-efficiency premium unit. Key features

Online double conversion with PFC. The 9SX constantly regenerates the power and regulates voltage and frequency, so the load is isolated from the mains with no break on failure.

0.9 power factor. It delivers around 28% more real power than equivalent VA ratings at lower power factors, so it powers more equipment for its size.

Compact rack or tower. One platform in two formats, with up to 3000VA in only 2U of rack space, or a tower for floor-standing sites.

Extended runtime. Up to four external hot-swappable battery modules, automatically recognised by the UPS, with ABM battery management, automatic battery test and deep-discharge protection.

Clear management. A graphical LCD plus USB and serial connectivity, with a slot for an Eaton network card for secure monitoring and shutdown.

Which Eaton UPS is right for you?

The 9SX is standard online protection in a compact body. If you need higher single-phase power at unity power factor, the 9SX Gen2 runs from 5kVA to 11kVA; for the premium tier with the highest efficiency and broadest runtime options, choose the 9PX; for value online in a tower, the 9E. Frequently asked questions

Can the 9SX go in a rack?

Yes. The 1000VA to 3000VA models fit a 2U rack slot or stand as a tower, and the 700VA model is a compact tower. It is one platform in two formats.

How much runtime can it hold?

The internal batteries give a few minutes at load, and you can add up to four hot-swappable battery modules to reach longer targets. We size the battery to your runtime using the manufacturer tables.

Can the batteries be changed without downtime?

Yes. The battery modules are hot-swappable and automatically recognised, so runtime can be extended or batteries replaced while the UPS keeps protecting the load.
