What the DS2200 is for

The DS2200 Series is the affordable way to add reliable 1D and 2D scanning to a point of sale. 2D codes now appear on products, coupons, loyalty cards and phone screens, and a 1D-only scanner cannot read them, causing exceptions that slow the checkout. The DS2200 reads it all, with point-and-shoot simplicity, at a price that suits a tight budget. It is the entry imager in the labelling and barcoding setups Sirap builds for retail and healthcare.

Who it is for

Maltese retail, hospitality and healthcare sites that need dependable, low-cost 2D scanning at the counter or in a clinic (the -HC models are disinfectant-ready). For premium retail performance choose the DS8100; for hands-free counter scanning the DS9300; for warehouse and industrial use the rugged DS3600.

Works out of the box. Pre-configured with settings optimised for most applications, with auto-host-detect cables that identify the interface and connect automatically.

Simple to configure. The free 123Scan tool embeds all settings into a single programming barcode, so you set up a scanner with one scan; over 90 international keyboards support deployment anywhere.

Protects your investment. Backwards compatible with Zebra LS2208 cables, so you reuse existing accessories when upgrading from 1D to 1D/2D.

First-time, every-time capture. Zebra’s PRZM intelligent imaging decodes poor-quality barcodes reliably, improving productivity at the checkout.

Point-and-shoot simplicity. Omni-directional scanning means workers never line up the code, and a familiar aim line guides the ideal distance, with a scan range of 1.2 cm to 36.8 cm.

Cordless freedom (DS2278). Scan-to-Connect pairs the cordless model with any Bluetooth PC, tablet or phone in one step, with 14 hours of battery for a full shift and charging in about an hour over Micro USB.

Handheld or hands-free. Drop either model into a presentation stand to switch to hands-free scanning automatically, no settings change.

Easy to manage

Control from any host. Adjust beeper, LED and symbology settings and read device data from Windows, Android and iOS.

Wi-Fi friendly. The cordless DS2278 operates on Bluetooth channels that avoid your WLAN, protecting wireless service levels.

Fleet tools at no cost. Scanner Management Service (SMS) manages scanners remotely, and Scanner SDKs support custom apps on Windows, Android, iOS and Linux.

Frequently asked questions

DS2208 or DS2278?
The DS2208 is corded for a fixed POS; the DS2278 is cordless (Bluetooth) for flexibility, with a 14-hour battery. Choose by whether workers need to move with the scanner.

Can it read codes on phone screens?
Yes. As a 1D/2D imager it reads printed and on-screen barcodes, including electronic coupons and loyalty and wallet codes.
