What the DS9300 is for

The DS9308 is a hands-free presentation scanner for counters where space is tight and reliability matters, convenience and drug stores, quick-serve restaurants, pharmacies and general retail. It sits on the counter and reads codes as fast as they are presented, so staff can scan with both hands free, and it doubles as a handheld when needed. It fits the counter end of the labelling and barcoding setups Sirap builds.

Who it is for

Maltese retail, hospitality and pharmacy counters that want fast hands-free scanning in a tiny footprint. For a handheld at the POS choose the DS2200 or premium DS8100; for warehouse and industrial use the rugged DS3600.

Design and performance

Fits anywhere. A near-zero footprint and a 45-degree angled cable connector keep it small even tilted forward, at home from a boutique to a petrol-station shop.

Scans it all. An 800 MHz processor, a megapixel sensor and PRZM intelligent imaging capture 1D and 2D codes including tiny high-density codes, phone-screen codes, DotCode and dotted DataMatrix through cellophane, and invisible Digimarc codes, even when poorly printed, damaged, faded or low-contrast. A curved exit window cuts glare from glossy or screen-displayed codes.

Fast and forgiving. Swipe speeds up to 50% faster than competitors and the largest field of view in its class mean no hunting for the sweet spot. Intelligent adaptive illumination dims when idle and is virtually invisible to reduce eye strain.

More than scanning

Driver’s-licence data. Verify age, populate loyalty and credit applications and monitor returns from the licence barcode.

Document capture. Intelligent Document Capture turns prescriptions, passports, cheques and other A6-or-smaller documents into clear images, removing a separate scanner.

Anti-theft and multi-code. Checkpoint EAS support deactivates security tags in the same pass; Multi-Code Data Formatting captures multiple codes in one trigger; Preferred Symbol outputs only the wanted code among many.

Durable and easy to run

Built for the counter. Survives 1.5 m (5 ft) drops to concrete and 1,000 tumbles, with IP52 sealing and a spill-proof base.

Flexible positioning. A ratcheting base offers four positions from 15 degrees back to 45 degrees forward, with multi-mount and locking-mount options for table, wall or self-checkout use.

Easy to deploy and manage. Backwards compatible with DS9208 cables, plug-and-play with auto-host-detect cables and ~100 keyboard languages, and managed with DataCapture DNA (123Scan, Scanner SDK, ScanSpeed Analytics, SMS, WMI).
